What is your destiny?

Destiny may indeed be the most sought-after revelation for most believers. Yet clarifying your destiny is not as confusing, convoluted or challenging as we often make it out to be. In fact, with some fundamental understanding of what destiny means and its basic components, you can quickly take giant leaps forward into clarifying your destiny.

Destiny Defined

• Unleash: to allow something very powerful to happen; to remove a constraint
• Your: something belonging to you
• Destiny: a predetermined course of events; a power that controls what happens in the future

Your destiny is something God desires you not just to discover, but to unleash. Your destiny is unique to you and is not for anyone else. It was determined before time began by God to fulfill His purposes on this earth.

Therefore, I define destiny as a powerful, preordained, predetermined unique path for you to impact eternity for the kingdom.

7 Destiny Truths

1. God has already prepared a unique plan for you.

""He predestined us to adoption as sons to Himself through Jesus Christ according to the good pleasure of His will" (Eph. 1:5).

It's obvious. Your destiny is already determined. We just have to embrace it and live it.

2. The unique book of your life is already written.

"Your eyes have seen my unformed substance; And in Your book were all written The days that were appointed for me, When as yet there was not one of them [even taking shape" (Ps. 139:16, AMP).

"For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, so that we should walk in them" (Eph. 2:10, MEV).

Wow—our own book in heaven, with our name on it! Amazing. So what is in this book? May I suggest it contains your destiny and therefore ...

3. "You are ultimately judged not by what you do, but what you were called to do." —John Bevere, Driven by Eternity

Do you not know that in a race all the runners run[their very best to win], but only one receives the prize? Run [your race] in such a way that you may seize the prize and make it yours!" (1 Cor. 9:24, AMP).

Your book. You name. Your race. This is how you will ultimately be judged, not by only your "good works" but those works aligned to your destiny.

4. "But I ain't that much" means you are perfect.

"But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise. God has chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty. And God has chosen the base things of the world and things which are despised. Yes, and He chose things which did not exist to bring to nothing things that do" (1 Cor. 1:27-28).

Be reassured that even if you see yourself as little, your destiny is huge for the kingdom. A shepherd boy single-handedly defeated the strongest of his enemies and reset the course of history. So can you.

5. You are pre-wired to dent eternity.

Your route is unique. Your lane is anointed. Your path is clear. Your vehicle is custom designed. Your destiny is yours—and no one else's. Therefore, you are uniquely wired to dent eternity in only the ways you can.

6. When you discover your destiny, you unlock your purpose.

May I suggest (at least for this teaching) that destiny and purpose are the same thing. Let's not split hairs and get too academic or esoteric. Your destiny is basically the same as your purpose, so let's focus on the word "destiny."

7. Your No. 1 goal in this life (at least in this teaching) is to:

a) Embrace your identity.

b) Release your gifts.

c) Occupy your territory.

d) Live out your calling.

These four areas—identity, gifts, territory, calling—are the four keys to understanding your destiny. For this teaching, the intersection of your identity, gifts, territory and calling is where your destiny lives.
