Spirit-Filled Pastor: The Lord Says, 'This is the Time to Sing'

(Pixabay.com)

This is not a time to panic; this is a time to pray. This is not the hour to sling mud; this is the moment to sing.

We are not alone as the only generation of Christians who has dealt with governmental injustice and the mockery of our faith; we are not the first, and we won't be the last.

So, what do Christians do during these volatile moments in political history? Is there a formula to call the nation to righteousness? Is there a petition that will right all of the wrongs we have endured? Is there a candidate who can speak hope and unity within our borders? Is there a leader who will lead with political integrity and exhibit the characteristics of a noble statesman?

As I was praying this week, I heard the Lord whisper a word to my spirit. I heard the voice of the Father say, "This is a time to sing!"

As I waited on my knees, I heard the Lord gently repeat, "Tell the singers to sing!"

Paul and Silas sang in prison in the face of a government that was brutally persecuting Christians. The chains fell off of their hands and feet, and then these unfairly imprisoned disciples led others to Christ because of the infinite power of their song. What can we learn from the historical account of Paul and Silas? A song changes everything!

David worshipped the Lord when he was being stalked and chased down by a jealous king. David's God protected him and even exalted him. Is there a lesson to be extracted from the outcome of David's life? A song changes everything!

Jonah worshipped the Lord in the belly of the great fish, and he was spit up onto dry ground. Revival broke out in Nineveh because of the rich and victorious song of Jonah's heart. What does the story of Jonah teach us in the 21st century? A song changes everything.

Three Hebrew boys sang and danced in the fiery furnace in spite of a cruel and despotic government. As these persecuted boys chose to praise the Lord in spite of the evil intent of the government, Jesus showed up and joined them in the fire. These three young men were given positions of honor and power in the government that was formerly persecuting them. Why? It's because a song changes everything.

The anxiety and the strife that is running rampant in America due to a seemingly unfair election, the bias of the media and political division has caused a chasm wretchedly deep and wide. However, if you truly desire to make a difference in the affairs of mankind and in the heart of our nation, would you join the choir of Paul, Silas, David, Jonah, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego?

It's time for the body of Christ to break out in a triumphant song of worship and praise! A song changes everything.
