Did you vote? More importantly, have you prepared for victory?

As a citizen of the United States, you have an inheritance of freedom! As a child of God, you have an inherence of grace and victory!

Have you set your heart for victory?

Paul writes this astonishing statement in 1 Corinthians 15:57: "But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ!"

I rejoice today for the precious gift of salvation, baptism of the Holy Spirit, divine healing and the promise of victory.

When you feel defeated, remember that God is the creator of all life, and the power of life is hope that cannot be beaten! We were not created for unending oppression.

Defeat demoralizes. Victory energies and vitalizes!

Paul writes for our instruction, "Now thanks be to God, who always causes us to triumph in Christ" (2 Cor. 2:14a).

We were made for victory, not defeat!

Victory is a gift of grace and a process that comes from "follow the leader."

As I sit here writing, I am overwhelmed by all that my family has gone through. I have listened to the heartache of many who have gone through trials, persecution and sickness. The tests of life are overwhelming, like the Red Sea before the children of Israel.

However, out of obedience, God raised a deliverer! The waters parted, and in one day, Egypt was behind after 400 years of bondage and slavery. Jesus is our deliverer today, in this hour!

Keep these five things in your heart during election week:

1. Christ is victory. A Hindu once asked the missionary E. Stanley Jones, "What has Christianity to offer that our religion has not?" He replied, "Jesus Christ."

Jesus is not a weak Savior. He is our all-conquering Lord! Dare to believe that for your own life. We overcome because God's Word lives in us. Quit wrestling with Christ and surrender to Him.

We win!

2. Christ is our victory. His victory is our victory. In football, when the game is tied with a few seconds left in the game, the quarter drops back, the crowd goes silent and the tight end catches the ball. The crowd explodes; we win! The quarterback's victory is our victory, just as Christ's victory is our victory.

We win!

3. Victory comes from new birth. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, "Therefore, if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature. Old things have passed away. Look, all things have become new." 1 John 5:4 says, "for whoever is born of God overcomes the world, and the victory that overcomes the world is our faith." "Born again" means born victorious.

We win!

4. We are overcomers through faith. Our faith is the fruit that comes from believing that Jesus is the Son of God. The defenses of darkness are three-fold. The front line is the lust of the flesh; it's big and ugly. The backfield is the world, the lust of the eyes as they move fast and want you to bow. The safety is the devil always to stop your forward progress by breaking you with the pride of life.

1 John 5:4b-5 says, "and the victory that overcomes the world is our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world, but the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?"

We win!

5. Faith is victory. We don't know yet who has won the U.S. elections. There has been much prayer and fasting. I pray that God will "bless America land that I love,/ stand beside her and guide her,/ through the night with a light from above."

Remember, you are a child of God, and you have an inheritance. Your name is written in the Lamb's book of life, your sins are forgiven, and He knows you by name.

1 John 4:4 says, "You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world."

Say it with me, "Thank you, Jesus, for dying for me. Your life, death and resurrection set my heart for victory." Shout it, "we win!"
