If I held a seminar titled "The Secret to Marketing Success—Results Guaranteed," I think I would need a large room.
Leaders seem to be on a search for the ultimate tool for better marketing. I am about to reveal in this note the true secret to marketing. Please don't read it out loud—it may shatter windows and cause a line to form at your front door.
The secret to marketing, is of course, that there are no secrets, only systems.
Allow me to help you start your system. Find someone who has a need you are called to serve. Interview the person. Get to the depth of their need and understand why they would buy a product or service to help them.
Next, write him a simple note. Tell him how your book, ministry or service could help with the problem. Be sure to write in a personal tone. Connect with him.
Tell him about other people you have helped. Write about the process. Write about how to get from where he is to where he wants to be.
Connect him with something you publish. Introduce him to your content. Show up in his life every day.
This secret is so closely held that only a few marketers actually do this. Don't be surprised when you hear "No one else has ever cared for me as much as you do."
No selling.
No asking.
Lots of caring.
