The Eagles had a great song with the line "Get over it" as the hook phrase. I can't remember much about the song, but it probably had a lot to do with the band's interpersonal relationships. I remember singing the catch-line many times during a workday.
It's hard to sing "get over it" without thinking about what I need to get over.
Today, I hear little children bellowing "let it go" from Disney's Frozen. I've been an accidental tourist of a YouTube video with a cute little girl all gussied up, singing with the passion of Idina Menzel into her hairbrush.
I had a paw-paw moment as I heard her crying out to "let it go, let it go." I don't remember any other words and I continue to pray I don't have to watch the movie.
"Get over it" and "let it go" resonate as music lines perhaps because we struggle with the concept of moving on from something hurtful or disrupting.
Leaders enter here.
People will dwell, if leaders allow. Conversations in the workplace echo with variations of the theme "Can you believe what just happened?" Misery loves company.
Speak the vision. Remind the why. Die daily.
Our work teams "let it go" by the charge of a leader.
"I press toward the goal to the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus" (Phil. 3:14).
