Protestant Pastors Have Negative View of Islam

Half of protestant pastors agree with Franklin Graham’s view that Islam is an “evil” religion, according to a new LifeWay Research survey. Most pastors have a negative view of the religion overall.

The study proposed a variety of questions about the differences between Christianity and Islam and then offered negative and positive descriptors. According to Ed Stetzer, president of LifeWay Research, pastors “consistently chose the negative descriptions.”

In the headlining question, pastors were asked to describe which is more accurate: Graham’s widely reported comment that Islam is “a very evil and a very wicked religion,” or former President George W. Bush’s remark that “the Muslim faith is based upon peace and love and compassion.” Some 47 percent agreed with Graham’s statement, and 12 percent agreed with both.

In other statements on the survey, 68 percent of pastors strongly disagreed that “Christians and Muslims pray to the same God.” Some 82 percent said that Islam is “fundamentally different from Christianity,” and 42 percent believe that the religion “promotes violence.”

“We should not say that Protestant pastors are uniform in their view and in no way does this study show they think that Muslims are bad people, but it does show concerns about the religion and its impact,” said Scott McConnell, associate director of LifeWay Research. [lifeway.com, 4/23/10]

KOKO, Here is another verse in the same book of the amplified bible about the Lord Jesus Christ.

And the Word (Christ) became flesh (human, incarnate) and tabernacled (fixed His tent of flesh, lived awhile) among us; and we [actually] saw His glory (His honor, His majesty), such glory as an only begotten son receives from his father, full of grace (favor, loving-kindness) and truth. [Isa. 40:5.] John1:14

KOKO, here are some verses from the amplified bible talking about Jesus Christ.

IN THE beginning [before all time] was the Word (Christ), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God Himself. [Isa. 9:6.]
He was present originally with God.
All things were made and came into existence through Him; and without Him was not even one thing made that has come into being.
In Him was Life, and the Life was the Light of men. John 1:1-4 Amp

I agree with you wholeheartedly. As an ex Moslem I am talking from experience. Nothing you said is far from the truth. People who have strong opinion and know nothing about this Evil Religion( ISLAM) are misguided. Islam promotes hatered, terrorism. It is in their Sharea Law. I am not against people who are Moslem but against Islam.

Rex,
Shall we say to a murderer, go ahead and continue murdering because you say judge not and ye shall not be judged? You misinterpret scripture very much so. Many are not judging individual Muslims but Islam itself. Islam is the enemy of ALL people as it is a false and evil religion. The Quran promotes violence, hatred of all non-Muslims. Islam's followers are judged in this life by God and eternally in Hell since they refuse God's only sacrifice for sin in the person of our Lord Jesus Christ. Acts 4:12

Surely, no one is attempting to justify of minimize the ways of jihadists and the like. But it seems the description you just gave pictures the ways that “Christians” used to operate. All I am saying is that WE need to remember from whence We have come. “Judge not and you won’t be judged”. We will be doing the proper thing if we would judge ourselves. THE ALMIGHTY is the REAL JUDGE! Don’t we have enough to do in just LOVING ONE ANOTHER? It serves no purpose for “leadership” in saying things that increase the hate. IF we would love as WE ought THE ALMIGHTY will surely take care of our enemies!! “Vengeance is mine, I will repay saith THE LORD”.

To speak ill of individual Moslems on the behaviour of the those who are fundamentalist and are committed to jihadist views and destruction, is certainly not christian.
However, Moslem religion as currently depicted in our modern world presents itself as being determined to conquer and subjugate the world without regard for free individual choice. In lands of Moslem supremacy where Sharia law is enforced there is no place or tolerance of anything else.
To try to use the Crusades and slavery, both of which are rejected by modern Christians , as a means of justifying Islamic behaviour in the present time frame is not a realistic comparison. We have certainly recognized the error of those things and repudiated them as we have become more discerning. Sadly Islam becomes more rigid and unwilling to accept the beliefs and opinions of others with the passing of time.

Shanaz,
I am so very happy for you my sister in Christ. Ours is a God of love, true peace and eternal life.. I agree you with you and my prayer also is that Moslems will find Christ and from the reports I have read many are coming to a saving knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. God bless you dear one and your family forever. :)

I have written these things to you who believe on the name of the Son of God, that you may KNOW that you have everlasting life, and that you may believe on the name of the Son of God. 1 John 5:13 MKJV

I agree with you completely. You probably didn't read my comment.Rev Faison is misguided. I am talking from an experience I am an ex Moslem and born again Christian. I was blind but now I see. I am married to an American man, according to Sharia Law I would be stoned . Converting from Islam to any other Faith will be the death sentence according to Sharia Law I can go on and on and on. I am at peace. My prayer would be for women of Iran and people of Iran who were never Moslem until Sudi Arabia brough their religion to my country by the force of sword and the rest is history.

Don't think that I am not aware of the referenced websites. Prejudicial sites cannot justify my being in agreement to judging others. No one, it seems, wants to deal with the reality that ALL of us have issues. Have we 'christians' become pharasaic in our ways?? We have established ourselves, so everyone else must be wrong. Are you aware of atrocities that christian americans commit in other countries? Is that supposed to be right because 'they' are bad people? When will we learn to LOVE as we ought and leave the judgement to THE ALMIGHTY HIMSELF?? Many say lord, lord and do not KNOW HIM...and are not know of HIM!! "Beware, lest ye also be judged"!!!
