Overseer Outspoken About Ted Haggard Meetings

The church Ted Haggard founded may not be commenting on his choice to start a new church from his home only a mile away, but that's not stopping a former overseer from the fallen leader's restoration process from speaking out.

H.B. London, vice president of Pastoral Ministries at Focus on the Family, blogged last week about Haggard's "exploratory meeting" that quickly expanded into a weekly home gathering of 150 people, many of whom attend New Life Church, where Haggard served for 22 years. As one of the four pastors originally charged with overseeing Haggard's restoration, London has been the most outspoken regarding what he believes was an aborted process.

"From the very beginning, Mr. Haggard had been counseled to go to another city, complete his restoration program, experience healing in his family and with his addiction, and only then begin again," London wrote. "But, he has made a choice not to do that. We, who were members of his restoration team and those who served New Life Church as overseers, wish he would not do this. We feel it to be insensitive to a church that provided generously for him and his family for over a year after his misadventure. But, more than that, he violates his own words that he would not begin a new church."

Haggard, however, has a drastically different account of his healing process, as posted on tedhaggard.com. Describing the original restoration team as more "corporate" than "relational," Haggard says he has never asked to be relieved from his restoration process and that he continues to receive oversight from a team of five pastors. The weekly meetings, he says, are simply Bible studies and an opportunity for prayer and healing.

"These meetings provide an opportunity for me to personally apologize, answer questions, and discuss the events of the last three years," he says. "The responses we are receiving confirm that Jesus is able to take the darkest mistakes of our lives and use them to demonstrate his resurrecting and restorative power." The Church I attended years ago had a Pastor that fell to adultry. He left voluntarily, and replaced with a new Pastor and Assist. Pastor. The people in the church were divided on their feelings, but also the affect of the sin was seen in the church in those of the "inner" circle who were in the "know". Our church divided, split and divided and split several times, and still there are those who fell because their trust in their Pastor, and those who hurt and never healed. It is not a good thing for those old things to be held onto. Yes, I do pray that if God is moving and people recognize it, and healings begin. Remember only God knows the evil in mens hearts.

WITH ALL DUE RESPECT TO YOU BISHOP I DON'T AGREE WITH YOUN BECAUSE GOD LOVES SINNERS, BUT HE HATE SINS. WHEN WE REPENTED FROM WHATEVER SINS WE HAVE COMMITTED GOD FORGIVES & HE FORGETS. AS FAR AS THE EAST IS FROM THE WEST,SO FAR HAS HE REMOVED / BLOTS OUT OUR TRASGRESSIONS FOR HIS OWN SAKE; & HE WILL NOT REMEMBER OUR SINS. ARE WE GREATER THAN GOD?. NOW TELL ME, ARE WE PERFECT OR WE ARE JUST FORGIVEN. IF THERES ENVY, JEALOUSY, BITTERNESS, UNFORGIVENESS IN US LET GOD DEAL WITH US. LEARN TO LOVE BECAUSE GOD IS LOVE! I LOVE YOU W/ THE LOVE OF THE LORD BISHOP.

I agree with vicdeo: If he has repented and turned from his sin, then God has forgiven him. He should move on and do what God called him to do and that is to teach the Gospel of Jesus Christ! God is the judge, not man! Blessings to Pastor Ted Haggard. Stay on the wall. It takes no courage to back down, it does take Godly courage to stand in the gap for the souls of men.

Pray for all those who will join Teds group that they will not be led astray. And pray for Ted to realize that he needs help in seeking God for his own life, not in leading others. God help his wife and any all who are involved.

We can never get into a new place until we come out of the old one. We must be monuments of God's personality.we can never be satisfied, for the truth of God's Word rises & rises in majesty. We must move on, or we shall perish; rising all the time from possibility to possibility after the Holy Ghost order; then God will arise. KEEP AWAY FROM HIM & LET HIM PREACH & TEACH IF HIS MOTIVES , PLANS & ACTION IS JUST TO DESTROY THE NEW LIFE CHURCH,OR WHATEVER IT WILL COME TO NOTHING. BUT IF IT IS OF GOD, WE CANNOT OVERTHROW WHAT HE IS DOING - LEST WE MAY BE FOUND FIGHTING AGAINST GOD. LET'S PRAY FOR HIM, HIS FAMILY & THE NEW MINISTRY THAT GOD OPENS FOR HIM. SOULS ARE GOING TO HELL. SO, LET US HELP ONE ANOTHER TO SAVE SOULS!

The question should never be about repentance or restoration. We know that God wants both. The problem lies in Haggard returning to a place where this problem developed. If Haggard gets his sense of value from his performance in ministry then he is setting himself up to fall again.Remember Jimmy Swaggart? It is easier to hide in your giftings than to allow God to do the deep healing that needs to come. This is about God's people being ministered to and equipped, not about Haggards' personal life.

How do we know that is not healed? How do we know that he is not restored? Only God knows the motives of his heart. How about us? So, if someone is caught in any kind of wrongdoing, those of us who are spiritual should set him right; but we must do it in a gentle way. And keep an eye on ourselves, so we will not be tempted too. Let's help carry one another's burdens, in this way we will obey the law of our Lord Jesus Christ. If we think we are something when we are really nothing, We are only deceiving ourselves. We should judge our own conduct. What happened to him might happen to us too. So, think of this thing! (Selah) Why give up when God is not giving up on him!

Responding to Claudious, the prodigal son was hardly about to step out into public ministry. I think in the story of Nathan and King David we have an exmple of a restoration process being put in place.

Quoting CLAUDIOUS:
The grace of God requires one to repent and confess one's sin. No process of restoration is called for. Read clearly the story of the prodigal son. One is forgiven immidiately one turns away from the sin & repents. Restoration is a human doctrine. 1John 1v9, 1John 2v1-2. If this brother has turned from his sin and repented he needs our help rather than our condemnation.

What about Galatians 6:1...gently RESTORE..
