Jesus + Church = Revolution

QUOTE: "We're supposed to be revolutionaries. And that's odd that that sounds odd in this world, but it's because the church has embraced the status quo instead of embracing what Jesus Christ brought into this world, which was revolution. … We have shut Jesus out of the church, and by shutting Jesus out of the church we have become everything contrary, antithetical to what Jesus wants the church to be. We need to let Jesus back in the church so that revolution can begin again; so our churches, instead of being turned inward, will turn outward again; so that our churches, instead of being exclusive little clubs, parks and recreation for the middle class, will become inclusive again. We have to create a mission that is revolutionary." —Brad Powell, senior pastor of NorthRidge Church in Plymouth, Mich., during his nine-minute video presentation as part of "The Nines" conference held online on 9/9/09. More than 20,000 people tuned in throughout the day to hear nine-minute video messages made specifically for pastors and church leaders as part of the free virtual conference, which was organized by Leadership Network and Catalyst. Agreed Al. Thanks for your input. Guatemala is 62% born-again Christians because they are forever evangelizing. They have large churches because of evangelism. Many Christians elsewhere are too comfortable. I pray God will use you powerfully to win many more souls for the Kingdom.

The church is not asleep everywhere, but many of the members of the body are slumbering. When your foot falls asleep it's hard to walk, if your arm falls asleep it makes it nearly impossible to lift someone up.
Jesus stayed local. He didn't travel very far, but ministered wherever He was whenever He was there. Later some stayed local and some went on walkabout.
The mission field is wherever you are whenever you're there. We are all missionaries... wherever we are whenever we're there!
At least that is what I see Jesus has called us to be.
Who is your neighbor?
Loving God includes loving your neighbor as yourself.
THE WORD OF GOD IS ALIVE AND ACTIVE IN WORD AND IN DEED.

Elliot, I am 100% in agreement with you. The church is sleeping. Pastors are more interested in getting their sermon right, rather than fulfilling the Great Commission. Our church is growing fast and healthily because evangelism has become a way of life!

singlemom & jeff, I can't agree with you more. however, this is only one area of neglect. I think most of the church has forgotten that Jesus went out to where the need was He didn't wait for those with a need to come to Him. People have to start to understand that to really know Him requires that you share the blessings He has poured out on you. When you do, He will start to use you in ways you never dreamed of. However, it doesn't happen until you step out and put your foot in the water. I will be forever grateful that a man in my church challenged me to join him in jail ministry seven years ago. What a blessing. WAKE UP CHURCH AND FULFILL THE GREAT COMMISSION!

Singlemom may the Lord bless you in your ministry. I only wished I could be in the USA to help you.

Jeff, yes they are too comfortable! They ignore the needs right in their own back yard. Ministry to single moms is messy- but isnt ministry messy, period! I have begged numerous churches all across the US to start a ministry to single moms and their children, even offering to provide them with lessons/format, etc. I have never received even one response to my requests. I am and will continue to minister to the single mom, although I am one myself.

Singlemom, why do you think that is happening in the USA? Are the Christians there too comfortable to care? Just to let you know that in our church on the mission field here in Guatemala we definitely work with single moms and take care of them.

One-third of the children being raised in the US are being raised by a single mom, but the church still doesn't see single moms and their children as a mission field?

We could win the world to Christ in less than one year if we would only follow what Christ told us to do. But we sleep and are comfortable. Didn't Jesus talk about vomiting the warm out of his mouth?
